Since the release of Battle for Azeroth, Blizzard has been busy updating their story arcs with new lore and ancillary content. One such piece is the Cypher Lore Codex Book that appears in patch 9.2 – Speculations About Cycles, Existence, and the Light. We are here to sift through some of these theories then share our opinion on them!
Many of these notes will be written in the language of the First Ones at first, but as we learn more, we will be able to comprehend more.
Below you’ll find a comprehensive translation of the codex.
On page 4, there’s a passage called “A Thought on Existence” that sticks out. “The light cannot be defined without the dark,” says this scripture. There have been clues of a struggle between the Light and the Shadow. If one cannot exist without the other, the winner may have far-reaching implications.
A collection of reflections on the First Ones’ creations.
Actualization Variations
When does a concept genuinely become its own person? Every one of us has been meticulously crafted, organized, and designed to fulfill a certain function. Each line was meticulously drawn and assembled to form a sturdy latticework, yet it was still complete on its own. When does the design become separate from the line?
Choice: Some Thoughts
The heart is where all of creation lives. A focal point from which unlimited possibilities flow outward. All roads have been traveled, yet no two are alike. Each option is distinct. With each step, the music transforms into a new and wonderful melody.
A Thought on Existence
Existence is conditioned by its surroundings. The light cannot exist without the dark; one cannot exist without the other. Language is also context-dependent; reasoning is the only way to derive meaning. The deeper the thinking, the more the meaning shifts. Their ideas are both everything and nothing at the same time. They are the things we are unable to fathom.
Observations on Reality
A desire to bring the wild under control. Make a game out of what is cruel. With enough time, it may switch from one to the other. The web of reality weaves in all directions, allowing for every consequence.
Circular Motion and Cycles
The Circles are hardworking. True creatures of peace. Their ideas run like a river, breaking off into smaller and smaller channels before returning to the larger stream. They have no beginning or finish, yet they are always complete.
A Secrets Meditation
It is necessary to keep secrets. It’s been put away. Safely kept so that they may be exposed at the appropriate time and place. A secret revealed too soon is disastrous for everyone. The balance is maintained by the archives. The First Ones’ great plan must be safeguarded at all costs.
Majesty Variations
Their music reverberates over the ocean. Melodies in a pattern tell everyone tales. Jumping. Swimming and running are two activities that I like. They stand tall, bouncy and magnificent.
Awe-inspiring Hymn
As required, the land changes. From the desert to the forest, from the dust to the lush. It adapts to their demands, allowing them to create amazing creations. The Founders. The pattern’s creators. We am awestruck by their intelligence.
Differential Growth
Life, growth, and creation. Everything springs from a single spark of inspiration. They reconstruct their lives after death. With appropriate care and culling, everything damaged may be repaired.
Cervids in various forms
The cervid lopes through the ground with elegance and charm. Their graceful lines are a joy to see. The spectator is happy, but the predator is hungry. This is the endless cycle, with a beginning and an end.
Balance: Some Thoughts
Each of us serves a function. We are all built with the aim of doing our tasks to the best of our abilities. Building, caring for, guiding, and maintaining We deliver on their requests in a well-balanced manner. Their design is unquestionable.
A Separation Meditation
I observe the lively but lethal harmony and juxtaposition of creatures. Is this why we’ve split up? Two universes that are both near and far away. A barrier that separates one person from another. As it should have been.
