The next upcoming WoW expansion, Battle for Azeroth is going to be the most important one in recent memory. In this article we will cover all of the changes coming with BFA and what it means for you as a Goldmaker or Lvl 100 player
“Legion has changed everything.”
This statement – among many others- are being said by players who have been around since the early days of World of Warcraft. The community is motivated and excited about Legion’s release, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t significant challenges ahead.
Weekly Economic Update in World of Warcraft Hello! The WoW Economy Weekly Wrap-up is back for the 220th time!
We are now well into 9.2, and the gold-making locomotive is still chugging along. Sales of double legendaries have increased, and general activity has kept markets busy, with a bonus to material drops. We chat about the news that the Mage Tower is going to be permanent and how to generate money there, as well as the TSM problems that struck us towards the end of the week.
My name is Samadan, and I’ll be your tour guide around the Gold Making World!
Material Buffs & 9.2 Sales
So, as 9.2 settles into its stride and double legendaries open up additional potential for huge sales, we begin to relax into the steady gold-making period. While certain legendaries have sold in record amounts, the boost in drop rates for materials required in legendaries was welcomed news for many this week. My understanding is that the goal is to make them simpler and less expensive to build.
Updates to Legendary Crafting:
⬆️ Significant increases to Soul Ash & Soul Cinder earned from Torghast.
⬆️ Slight increase to drop rates of Progenitor Essentia & Heavy Callous Hides.
⬆️ Slight increase to drop amounts of Lightless Silk, Shadowlands Ores, & Callous Hides.
— March 24, 2022, World of Warcraft (@Warcraft) This is somewhat of a band-aid solution, with the true problem being the massive waste of resources and unsellable objects required to either make them yourself or learn the newest rankings. With the Crafter’s Marks, we don’t have to go far to find a more solid process in place; I wonder how the legendary market would have looked if they had employed the same system?
This. I really want to build all of my legos. But it isn’t worth it right now. Make them inexpensive, and we’ll have a good time.
We haven’t seen the full impacts of these boosts yet, but one thing Tyrsenus anticipated was that the ordinary Shadowlands Ores, such as Sinvyr Ore, would explode in price.
Overall, if prices continue high for a time, depending on demand, it’s wonderful news for farmers. Also, keep an eye out for prospective vendor flips if basic material costs go low enough.
If you’re out farming Progenitor Essentia, you may use u/Weak T3xaz1’s Aura to remind you to obtain the Jiro Buff.
So I’ve been farming treasures for Progenitor Essentia, and I’ve created a weak aura that will remind me when I need to rebuff at a Jiro.
Please post your ideas on the Wago page if you have any.

If you’re curious about what’s been selling and what areas to look into further, the Penguin has a wonderful video that goes through their sales over the previous month…
In terms of my personal sales, I can say that the Shadowghast Rings are the only Rank 7 legendaries that have sold for me out of the handful that I do have on the market. However, potions and a variety of other minor things continue to sell well…
The Mage Tower is set to become permanent.
Another good piece of news this week was the announcement that the next Mage Tower Event will be permanent!
UPDATE: When we first created the Legion Timewalking Bonus Event, we were exploring for extra entertaining Legion elements to include. The Mage Tower and the Timeworn Keystones were both included.
We agree that having a personal skill challenge accessible just for a limited window of time every few months isn’t in the spirit of these sorts of events after hearing comments and seeing how it has played out. As a result, beginning the week of March 29, the Mage Tower will be open to all players at all times, regardless of whether or not they are participating in the Legion Timewalking Bonus Event.
Since I began, this has been by far my favorite gold-making period. It makes use of a variety of professions and expansions as players try to maximize their chances of success. There’s also the added incentive of a fantastic-looking mount for those that succeed.
While there may be less of a surge this time since the event is no longer time restricted, it does pave the way for many old world professions and farms to be viable in the long run.
This is how I’m thinking as well. I have a separate alt devoted to producing potions and scrolls, which I’ll keep mainly separate from the other alts that do SL stuff.
This is simply a wonderful way for me to diversify and have some extra gold coming in every week, even if it isn’t in the millions. I might be completely incorrect, but I’d anticipate to make a few hundred thousand dollars in the first two weeks and then easily 50-100k every week after that.
It’s not a lot, but it’s a lovely little bonus on top of what I’m already doing, and it only takes a little more time.
Kaychack has a series of videos that go over what sells in various marketplaces and how to get set up for them…
Making a Hundred Million Dollars with Old Content
Here’s a unique perspective on gold mining. Is it possible to generate gold just from ancient world content? Yes, indeed. Yes, you certainly can.
I have played since 2009. I took a 4 year break in WoD never caught up. I have 20 toons over lvl 40, but nothing higher than 54. Mostly engineer/alchemy. But I have every profession covered. I have spent far too much in time SunSong Ranch farming for ore. I have made countless Sky Golems and Vial of Sands. WoD blacksmithing is great on my server. LW Wrath-WoD is great. Enchanting BC ->WoD is great. Farming Volatiles always great gold.
I have no idea how to level professions in Legion -> Shadowlands.
To harvest garbage, I run a lot of old raids.
I’m overjoyed that I met my objective.
I surpassed a 100 million wow gold milestone, which I consider to be more remarkable than my day job.
Thank you to the TSM creators since before I began utilizing TSM with Auctioneer, I was selling things way too cheaply.
Like previous year, I had 60m. The gem revenues from the mage tower were incredible.
Why is Enchanting BC -> WoD great?
“The gift of crit is always sold by the mongoose. Anything with a wrath shard is going to be a hit. Those enviable metrics sell.” “You may use an enchanter if you have one. I’d want you to create all of the scrolls you have. And just recreate what sells. That’s all there is to it. To locate old recipes, go through past material. Look at your auction house to discover which enchants sell best and then go obtain the recipes for those enchants.”
ideletemyaccount04, you have won!! This is an incredible achievement and source of inspiration!
Troubles with TSM
This week, Gold Makers may have noticed a disruption in the TradeSkillMaster force (TSM). The servers were down for some time, and the issue turned out to be more significant than a simple internet outage…
We’d like to provide you a quick update on how TSM services are progressing. Our hosting provider informed us early this morning, US time, that the hard disk housing our core database had perished, and they were unable to retrieve any data from it. Today, we’ve been working hard to restore as much as can from our backups and get everything back up and running. However, it seems that data has been destroyed and we are unable to restore it. Once we’ve gone through all of the surviving backups and have a decent understanding of what was lost and what the next steps are, we’ll provide another update as soon as possible with additional information.
On the good side, the TSM Desktop Application has been re-enabled in a limited capacity. It should be able to reconnect to our servers and download data for the Retail version of the game once again. Our website, as well as all WoW Classic assistance, is now unavailable.
We regret for any trouble this outage has given you and thank you for your patience!
I’m glad they were able to get it up and running and hope that as much can be recovered as possible! My thanks as always goes to the great dedication the TSM team have in keeping so many gold makers hopes and dreams alive! <3
