Phase 1 Warcraft Logs Analysis for Burning Crusade Classic – Arcane Mage Takes Top Damage

Phase-1-Warcraft-Logs-Analysis-for-Burning-Crusade-Classic

The first phase of the Burning Crusade Classic is over, and raids have cleared Gruul’s Lair and Magtheridon’s Lair many times. Today, we’ll look at the Warcraft Logs DPS Rankings for Tier 4 of the Burning Crusade Classic.

The rankings have shifted significantly from the first two weeks of the tier, when Beast Mastery Hunters and Destruction Warlocks were unquestionably the strongest DPS in TBC. Arcane Mages are now doing massive damage, while Fury Warriors are proving that they are still a force to be reckoned with. We utilized data from the Warcraft Logs Statistics pages for Karazhan, Gruul’s Lair, and Magtheridon’s Lair on 9/14/2021 for this study.

Sources and Disclaimers

The 95th percentile data in this article comes from the Warcraft Logs Karazhan Statistics Page, as well as the Warcraft Logs Gruul & Magtheridon Statistics Page. Before we go into the statistics, there are a few things to keep in mind:

  • Talent specialties that are thought to be weaker are played less often, making them seem somewhat worse than they are.
  • Players that are focused on their performance prefer to choose the classes and talent specializations that are thought to be the greatest. This widens the gap between top and bottom talent specialties even further.
  • Only looking at the 95th percentile means we’re only looking at the top 5% of each class and specialty – 19 out of 20 players won’t be able to perform at this level. This is done to weed out players who love the game but don’t fully maximize their character’s raid efficiency. That’s perfectly OK, but it’s not what we’re after here.
  • Only boss damage is being considered. When evaluating total boss and trash damage during a raid, classes with powerful multi-target damage abilities will rise in the ranks.
  • Most of the top parses include a raid in which Shamans are rotated into a certain group in order to offer some players several casts of Heroism or Bloodlust in the same battle. If you are not in a comparable position, competing with those parses is very tough. A weaker class receiving such treatment would almost certainly surpass a stronger class not receiving it.

Gruul’s Lair and Magtheridon’s Lair

Arcane Mages and Fury Warriors have joined the Hunters and Warlocks at the top since the first few weeks. Kill times decrease as everyone’s equipment and experience with the battles increases. This implies that an Arcane Mage’s primary limiting element, their mana pool, is less of a constraint, and they can blast a lot of damage. Fury Warriors, as anticipated, scale very well with equipment and have risen in the ranks. They feature a good feedback loop where doing more damage leads to more anger, which leads to more damage, thus with better equipment, they should scale up well.

The majority of “support” DPS jobs have comparable damage output. Elemental and Enhancement Shamans, Affliction Warlocks, Combat Rogues, Retribution Paladins, Shadow Priests, and Feral and Balance Druids may not have top-tier individual damage output, but they all offer important raid buffs that let everyone else deal more damage.

Arms Warriors and Survival Hunters are closing the gap between top individual DPS classes and support DPS roles, not quite on par with the top pumpers but well ahead of the other support DPS. Some Arms Warriors have begun to use the “kebab spec,” a dual-wielding hybrid Arms & Fury skill specialization. The Blood Frenzy debuff is still applied by the kebab warriors, but they receive significant individual DPS skills from the Fury tree.

Karazhan

Arcane Mages absolutely dominate the competition in Karazhan, with even quicker boss battles than Magtheridon’s Lair and Gruul’s Lair. Arcane Mages are without a doubt the most effective class for dealing damage in brief battles. Due to their powerful multi-target skills, classes like Warrior, Fire Mages, and Elemental Shaman may push higher in multi-target battles like Terestian Illhoof, Attumen the Huntsman, Moroes, and a few others can push higher than they would in other raids.

Highlights

In this initial round of raiding for the Burning Crusade, several guilds and individuals have accomplished some amazing achievements. This section contains highlights from the raids on Gruul, Magtheridon, and Karazhan.

Maulgar, the High King On July 31st, the Russian guild ксодус> (translated: “Exodus”) on the server ламеоp (EU) established a new record for the quickest death of High King Maulgar. Six additional guilds, from Fairbanks (US), from (CN), from (CN),> from (CN), from (CN), and lastly,> from (CN) who put up the most raid DPS while still staying at a 9 second kill, with 86,134 total raid DPS, have lately matched but not surpassed their record.

“How is it even possible?” some of you may be scratching your heads. The High King Maulgar encounter technically ends when High King Maulgar dies, however the other ogres may be kept alive and you can continue proceed to Gruul the Dragonkiller, according to Blizzard’s own coding. кcодус forewent the usual group structure and assembled a squad comprised mostly of damage dealers. To generate the majority of their damage, ксодус piled up 11 Arcane Mages, 4 Elemental Shamans, and a few others. This Warcraft Logs report documents their incredible accomplishment, which included a total raid DPS of 83,888 during the kill.

Gruul the Dragonkiller is a character in the game Gruul the Dragonkiller Beast Mastery Hunters and a few Destruction Warlocks make up the majority of the top DPS parses for Gruul the Dragonkiller. The top 100 DPS numbers vary from 2,257 DPS for the 100th ranked parse to 2,577 DPS for the highest rated parse. The top-ranked player is a Fury Warrior named Ahlaundoh from the Herod US server’s guild, neither a Beast Mastery Hunter or even a Destruction Warlock. It’s remarkable since Ahlaundoh is not only the best DPS on Gruul the Dragonkiller, but they’re also the only Fury Warrior in the top 100!

On Gruul the Dragonkiller, Ahlaundoh’s point of view for world #1 DPS

Magtheridon In the Magtheridon encounter, the control cubes are often utilized to prevent the monster from casting Blast Nova and wiping out the raid. It didn’t take long for players to notice that activating all five control cubes at once quadrupled Magtheridon’s damage suffered through the Shadow Cage debuff. Many high-level guilds started utilizing the cubes as a damage boost in the hopes of killing the monster before they needed them to avoid a Blast Nova.

This Warcraft Logs report depicts the world-record-breaking speed kill of Magtheridon by the Chinese guild> (translated: “Listen to perfume pavilion”) from the server (CN) in 2 minutes and 1 second. Shadow Cage is used 5 times in a row, back to back, for this kill, while the other 20 players in the raid pour out as much damage as they can. They only brought two dedicated healers to this monster, while usually teams bring four or five healers, yet several of their players earned 100 parses for this incredible kill!

Karazhan Warlocks may enslave a Dreadbeast from the Servant’s Quarters in Karazhan using Enslave Demon. This demon will inflict a massive amount of damage, and although it does not directly contribute to the Warlock’s overall damage, it will definitely speed up boss kills. The raid delivered a Dreadbeast to Maiden of Virtue, Moroes, and Attumen the Huntsman, according to this Warcraft Logs Report on Herod’s US server. This is the damage meter for Maiden of Virtue, and the Dreadbeast is the raid’s second greatest individual damage generator!

In Karazhan, Netherspite may be placed in such a way that one person can occupy two distinct power beams at the same time. This is especially useful for rogues, since both beams boost damage. According to Warcraft Logs, the rogue Jozh from Arugal US is occupying both the Serenity (Green) and Dominance (Blue) beams on Netherspite, putting out a ridiculous 5,465 DPS.
