Running of the Gnomes Charity Event on October 9th 4pm PDT

Last updated October 9, 2021 | Follow us on Pinterest

Blizzard Entertainment is hosting a charity event on October 9th in which they will be running the gnomes from World of Warcraft around their offices in Irvine, California. The proceeds from this event will go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation and help grant wishes for children with life-threatening illnesses.

The running of the gnomes 2021 is a charity event that takes place on October 9th 4pm PDT. It’s goal is to raise money for the American Cancer Society.

Simply roll a level 1 Gnome on the Scarlet Crusade US server to participate in the fun! You may also contribute to the charity of the year by clicking on the link below. Do you have any questions? Join the Discord channel.

This year, unlike previous years, there will be no Classic edition of the tournament.

What exactly is this? Is it simply a micro-holiday inside the game?

The Running of the Gnomes is an annual event in which the entire World of Warcraft community congregates on a single server, Scarlet Crusade, and travels from the Gnome starting zone to Booty Bay to raise awareness and money for Breast Cancer Research.

The annual migration was so popular among players and the community that Blizzard decided to commemorate it with a Micro-Holiday dubbed the Great Gnomeregan Race, which takes place on the same day every year across the globe. The mini holiday has a racing track as well as NPCs to cheer them on.

While the micro-holiday is celebrated worldwide, the community and player gatherings are still limited to Scarlet Crusade US.

How to Take Part

Simply log in to Scarlet Crusade on the given day, prior to the run’s start time, and join us for the run. We’ll send out invitations, and all you have to do is show up!

Because the Gnome Run is so popular, I recommend arriving early (not more than 10 minutes before the run) or joining our discord a few days ahead of time on days when we are pre-inviting individuals to guilds to get an invite early.

There will be no Cross Realm invitations for this event. You must be on Scarlet Crusade or Feathermoon, which is linked to it. I’m unable to assist individuals who are outside of the realm. Simply create a new character and join the action on the chosen server!

You may download and utilize a US trial account if you don’t usually play World of Warcraft but wish to visit or participate in the EU/Asia areas.

You may do the same if your account is presently inactive!

Trial accounts are unable to join guilds, but you are welcome to run alongside us, and we do have some methods to keep track of you all. You may still join our Discord!

We contacted Dravvie, the event’s creator, in 2017 to give her views on how the event has evolved over time and how Blizzard tried to make it a micro-holiday. She was nice enough to write a lengthy blog for Wowhead, which you can read here.

Blizzard

Do you think you’re a gnome? Do you have any gnomes in your life? Do you wish you could be a gnome? (After all, who wouldn’t?) Then take on the challenge of The Great Gnomeregan Run from Gnomeregan to Booty Bay on Saturday, October 10. Where: The adventure starts outside the gnome starting location and concludes in Booty Bay. Only members of the Alliance are allowed to participate. (Don’t worry; any player may make a level 1 gnome and participate in the fun.) You can join in this fun run starting in the gnome starting area and winding through Dun Morogh, Ironforge, the Deeprun Tram, Stormwind, Elwynn Forest, Duskwood, and Stranglethorn Vale, culminating in Booty Bay, whether you’re a level 1 gnome (highly encouraged), a level 87 Dark Iron dwarf, or a level 120 worgen. Participants should start their race by picking up “The Great Gnomeregan Run” from Mina Gleespanner in New Tinkertown, which is immediately beyond the gnome starting area. The event will continue all day, allowing you to establish your greatest personal record whenever it is most convenient for you. It’s a huge big big world out there, but don’t worry about getting lost; course markings and spectators will help you stay on track. Among the spectators, you’ll see a few old faces, as well as some new mechagnome pals! Because Stranglethorn Vale is a hazardous area for low-level characters, you may wish to recruit some muscle to accompany you on your journey. Consider becoming a gnome’s chaperone if you’re a higher-level character. Are you worried about being ambushed by an opposing Horde? Fear not: hostile players cannot assault level 1 gnomes (or any player under level 20). Warmode may be turned off in Stormwind by higher-level Alliance escorts who do not wish to participate in global PvP.
