Warrior Double Legendaries in 9.2: Combinations for Arms, Fury and Protection

The latest major patch for World of Warcraft, 9.2 is live and players are scrambling to get in on the new goodies that it will bring. This article covers some of the combinations available when combining legendary items with one another in combination with buffs from pre-existing legendaries.

The “arms warrior 9.1 legendary” is a combination that can be used by warriors in Patch 9.1 of the game Warcraft. It has been found to be effective for Arms, Fury and Protection.

Double Legendary testing began on the PTR earlier this month with the inclusion of the Memory of Unity pattern, which allows players to wear both a standard legendary and a covenant-specific legendary at the same time. In Patch 9.2 – Eternity’s End, our Warrior Guide Writers have created a first look at the Double Legendary combos you’ll likely equip in Sepulcher of the First Ones and Mythic+.

On the 9.2 Eternity’s End PTR, the timeframe for acquiring Double Legendaries has altered. Learn how and when you’ll be able to equip two legendaries in our article below.

Disclaimer: All theorycrafting is based on the PTR’s current tuning, which includes all of the most recent class and system improvements, as well as a full 9.2 4-Set Tier bonus. Additional tuning and class adjustments may have a significant impact on the following suggestions. This is only a sneak peek at each spec’s Double Legendaries; definitive recommendations will be released closer to the release of 9.2.

Sepulcher of the First Ones’ Best Arms Warrior Double Legendaries

When it comes to double legendaries, Arms Warriors have it easy since there aren’t many alternatives that don’t change regardless of covenant. Enduring Blow is the go-to legendary for any single-target and low-target cleave content, delivering significantly higher uptime on Colossus Smash, which works well with the redesigned tier set.

Unfortunately, there isn’t much space for personalization since Enduring Blow is so powerful that almost every Arms Warriors in Sanctum of Domination used it above any other legendary (barring the few multitarget circumstances). Although covenant legendaries are being put on top, their effects are nearly fully autonomous, particularly as Colossus Smash is often timed to correspond with covenant abilities in the first place. When applying their covenant legendary to Enduring Blow, Arms Warriors of all covenants should earn +5-6 percent (which should be prioritized over covenant legendaries until the ability to equip two is unlocked).

Little has changed in terms of combos after Sanctum of Domination, with Night Fae still somewhat ahead of Kyrian and Venthyr falling behind since the Condemn nerfs in Patch 9.1. Necrolord remains in the middle, theoretically powerful when factoring the group bonus but personally weak to the point that few Warriors would want to make the swap unless it was absolutely necessary.

Signet of Tormented Kings may be used instead of Enduring Blow in raid encounters with strong AoE, while this is frequently overkill in raid encounters and is mostly prioritized for parsing reasons. The legendary may be used in one of two ways: either combining Avatar and Bladestorm to maximize cooldown procs in one burst damage sequence, or by desyncing the two to risk proccing an additional Bladestorm when targets are accessible more often than once per 1.5 minutes. Because this is the only feasible legendary for large burst or sustained multitarget damage, it’s a no-brainer in scenarios when it’s available.

For Mythic+, the Best Arms Warrior Double Legendaries

Arms has just one option with a high multitarget emphasis, similar to raid content, and that is Signet of Tormented Kings. Because Enduring Blow has strong interactions with Sweeping Strikes and several dungeons feature low-target cleave bosses and important trash packs, Arms focusing on single target damage is a slightly better argument than other specializations, though Signet remains the best choice for raw multitarget damage and speed clearing in Mythic+.

On the bright side, Signet works well with the covenant legendaries, since they all increase the duration of covenant ability player benefits or damage. Because Signet can link cooldowns, Arms may stack several casts of Recklessness, Avatar, and Bladestorm on top of Spear of Bastion, Conqueror’s Banner, Ancient Aftershock, or Condemn for longer periods of time than before the ability to wear twin legendaries.

Kyrian and Night Fae are the go-to pairings for burst AoE damage and are largely interchangeable, while Kyrian has an advantage in really big pulls owing to Ancient Aftershock’s 5 target limit. Necrolord is stronger than previously, because to the inclusion of Glory, which boosts the bulk of the party, but leaves Arms with nothing to do in multitarget, while Venthyr remains behind owing to the lack of a viable means to cleave Condemn other than Sweeping Strikes.

Sepulcher of the First Ones’ Best Fury Warrior Double Legendaries

When it comes to double legendaries, Fury Warriors have it easy since there aren’t many alternatives that don’t change regardless of covenant. Deathmaker is the go-to legendary for any single-target and low-target cleave content, offering a damage-increasing debuff that matches well with the Recklessness procs in the tier set. While they don’t always overlap, the two together provide excellent protection against moderate damage increases.

Unfortunately, Deathmaker is the default best since most Fury legendaries are gimmicky, if not downright undertuned, as proven by Fury Warriors favoring their covenant legendary above the original ones in Sanctum of Domination. With that covenant legendary having become the de facto “second legendary,” Fury is left with few alternatives other than Deathmaker, which isn’t to suggest it’s a horrible choice. In general, when Fury Warriors of all covenants add Deathmaker to their covenant legendary, they should earn +7-8%. (which should be prioritized over Deathmaker until the ability to equip two legendaries is unlocked).

Venthyr is theoretically the strongest combo, but it is depending on long-term Condemn periods, which aren’t always possible. The actual star of patch 9.2 is Necrolord, who synergizes so effectively with the new tier bonus that it’s on par with Venthyr, while also offering a powerful boon to three teammates – but it, too, is subject to downtime, although more under your control than rigid boss health phases. Kyrian and Night Fae are still good alternatives for players (or content) that want to hit several targets.

While there is a case to be made for a single target focus on Tyrannical weeks, it has been proven time and time again that a greater focus on AoE damage to clear trash packs faster gains more time than increased single target damage (especially when considering Fury’s single target legendary’s only moderate gain), making Signet an almost unquestionable choice.

On the bright side, Signet works well with the covenant legendaries, since they all increase the duration of covenant ability player benefits or damage. Because Signet may link cooldowns, Fury can stack numerous casts of Recklessness, Avatar, and Bladestorm on top of Spear of Bastion, Conqueror’s Banner, Ancient Aftershock, or Condemn for longer periods of time than before the ability to wear two legendaries.

Kyrian and Night Fae are the go-to for burst AoE damage and are practically interchangeable, while Kyrian has a slight advantage in extremely big pulls owing to Ancient Aftershock’s 5 target limit, and in simplicity of usage due to Spear of Bastion’s stronger alignment with Recklessness and Bladestorm. That said, Necrolord is very strong with the new tier bonus, and while it lacks the raw burst damage that the other covenants do in a short amount of time, Glory extends Conqueror’s Banner from 3 to 4 members of the party, and the buff can be chained between trash packs as long as the pulls are tight enough… though eliminating this downtime in practice may be difficult. Venthyr is sadly left behind, since Condemn windows just do not persist long enough to consistently lengthen the duration of Recklessness, even when pulled fast.

Sepulcher of the First Ones’ Best Protection Warrior Double Legendaries

Because it’s easy and effective, Kyrian has been the default Protection Warrior configuration throughout Shadowlands. It isn’t always the most powerful, but it is most of the time, and it is always competitive in every circumstance.

It’s fantastic to add Elysian Might to Kyrian Warrior’s kit’s basic value. It doesn’t provide much in the way of raid benefits other than increased damage, but that has been one of Protection Warrior’s main flaws throughout the expansion. On certain bosses, the ability to tie adds for 8 seconds may be appealing, although it will most likely be more helpful in Mythic+.

The disadvantages are that Elysian Might has no substantial synergy with the tier set, it does not give Rage production or any defensive benefit, and it has no rotational effect. It just extends your damage window, but that’s all it does. This is the safest option and will most likely remain the most common arrangement in Patch 9.2, but there is a new contender: Necrolord.

Necrolord has had a few fascinating moments in Shadowlands during PTRs, but it has remained a pretty unpopular choice that provides modest group value at the cost of personal damage. It hasn’t provided enough value to warrant the sacrifice for most gamers, and it hasn’t been very enjoyable to play up to this time.

Glory is a fantastic Legendary, but it’s difficult to justify sacrificing Reprisal for it. Necrolord Protection Warrior is substantially improved now that both may be worn. Protection Warrior moves from being able to create about 10-12 Rage per second in Sanctum of Domination to 17-18 Rage per second in Sepulcher of the First Ones when Conqueror’s Banner is paired with Anger Management and the Rage generation from the forthcoming tier set.

With Glory, maintaining 100 percent uptime on Conqueror’s Banner costs 17.5 Rage per second, which implies that a Necrolord Protection Warrior wearing two Legendaries and full tier can generally keep Conqueror’s Banner up and running.

There are still several flaws with Necrolord. If you are forced out of melee range for more than a few seconds by a monster, you will find it difficult to maintain Conqueror’s Banner up indefinitely. Conqueror’s Banner does not provide a great amount of Rage like Kyrian or Night Fae, and it also does not inflict enormous bursts of damage like they do.

It does, however, offer a lot more Rage production than any other Covenant, which is critical from both a defensive and offensive standpoint. Conqueror’s Banner will increase the damage dealt by your raid’s damage dealers. It produces a significantly more intense playstyle than the normal Kyrian arrangement, which may be enjoyable and novel for some players but may be overpowering for others.

In a nutshell, The Necrolord Warrior is now highly powerful. Is it the best option? In certain circumstances, it seems to be that way, although it is less forgiving than Kyrian. We’ll have to wait and see.

In Sepulcher of the First Ones, Night Fae is the third and final Covenant choice for Protection Warriors (Venthyr as Protection = No).

Nature’s Fury is similar to the Kyrian Warrior Legendary Elysian Might in terms of functionality. Nature’s Fury does contribute some Rage creation, but it’s not much. Apart from that, both Legendaries essentially only increase the damage of their respective Warrior Covenant abilities, and they don’t have any kit synergy.

The following are the reasons why Night Fae should be mentioned with Kyrian:

  • In terms of damage, Night Fae is significantly weaker, but only by a little margin.
  • Soulshape is a powerful spell.

It’s fantastic to get an additional mobility cooldown from Soulshape. There aren’t as many confrontations in Sepulcher of the First Ones where it can save your life as there are in Sanctum of Domination, but any advantage is welcome. Even if you don’t require Soulshape, Night Fae is still a good Covenant option for Protection Warriors. Kyrian is typically more steady in terms of damage output, but it isn’t as versatile.

The Wall is still in good shape. For a long time, it has had a lower value than Reprisal, and Reprisal is often simpler to utilize in Sepulcher of the First Ones than it was in Sanctum of Domination. Reprisal should continue to be the go-to option in terms of total value. The Wall may provide enough Rage generation and is useful if you’re feeling overwhelmed by Reprisal, but the new tier set’s design emphasizes maximal Rage creation. The Wall isn’t the greatest option for Rage generation, hence it’s not the best overall option.

For Mythic+, the Best Protection Warrior Double Legendaries

Because it’s easy and effective, Kyrian has been the default Protection Warrior configuration throughout Shadowlands. It isn’t always the most powerful, but it is most of the time, and it is always competitive in every circumstance.

Due to the exceptional usefulness of Mikanikos’ end-tree trait Effusive Anima Accelerator in pulls with 5+ adds, Kyrian Warrior is better in Mythic+ than raids (compared to single-target boss encounters). It’s fantastic to add Elysian Might to Kyrian Warrior’s kit’s basic value. The increased damage is incredibly useful, and the ability to tie additions to a single location for 8 seconds is quite powerful. Consider how useful it is for securing the adds in Mists of Tirna Scithe or Necrotic Wake’s opening pulls. Oh, yes. Nice.

Although Necrolord is a possible rival, Kyrian has been remarkably reliable and should still be a strong pick for Protection Warriors moving into Shadowlands’ Mythic+ Season 3.

In Patch 9.2, the Necrolord Protection Warrior has one major flaw: consistency. This is exacerbated by Mythic+ dungeons, which is both good and awful.

The figures for Rage generation in raids from the section on Necrolord Warriors were based on tanking a single adversary. Rage production is somewhat greater and a lot more constant while tanking numerous foes, like it is in Mythic+.

Being a Necrolord in Mythic+ has a lot of appeal in terms of personal worth. It’s exhilarating and chaotic in the nicest manner conceivable. A constant 400 Mastery buff adds about 18 percent more Critical Block chance, 6 percent more regular Block chance, and 12 percent more Attack Power to your Revenge and Ignore Pain casts, and a constant 400 Mastery buff adds about 18 percent more Critical Block chance, 6 percent more regular Block chance, and 12 percent more Attack Power to your Revenge and Ignore Pain casts. It’s rather great, and the compatibility with the new tier set is fantastic.

There are two major issues to be concerned about. For starters, certain dungeons contain pathing that causes Conqueror’s Banner to go down, and there’s nothing you can do about it. Even if you’re attempting to chain-pull mobs, Theater of Pain, Plaguefall, and De Other Side all contain huge areas where you’ll be racing through halls rather than fighting. It’s impossible to keep Conqueror’s Banner in such areas.

Second, and perhaps more importantly, becoming a Necrolord means losing the burst damage (and threat) that comes with being a Kyrian. Dropping a burst damage skill in lieu of a cooldown that offers your group even more damage might be problematic, given that Kyrian Protection Warriors already have threat difficulties in Mythic+. You’ll definitely need to adjust your Mythic+ groups to accommodate for the lower burst damage, and include damage-dealers who can take use of the Mastery increase from your Conqueror’s Banner (Havoc Demon Hunters aren’t required!). Group and route planning will become much more complicated as a result of this.

Necrolord Warrior is a lot better in Patch 9.2 than it was before, and it’s intriguing both on paper and in testing, but it’s a lot more work than just running Kyrian. It’ll be interesting to observe how the mechanisms in Patch 9.2 effect public sentiment.

The “necro warrior legendary” is a combination of Arms, Fury and Protection. The “necro warrior legendary” is an excellent choice for players who want to try the new set.
