A new season of World of Warcraft Classic is here, with a twist. The game’s developers are answering questions from the community on their official forum. We’ve compiled some of the most intriguing ones and put them in this article for your enjoyment.
The World of Warcraft Classic is a game that has been around for a long time and is still going strong. It will soon be getting a new expansion, the Season of Mastery. Blizzard has released some questions to the community about this new expansion.
Blizzard has announced the launch of the World of Warcraft Classic “Season of Mastery” Open Beta on October 5th, 2021. Blizzard highlighted several forthcoming changes in the blog article, including no global bonuses in raids and a quicker phase cadence. Many questions remain for the Classic community, which we’ve highlighted here…
Are We Sure There Won’t Be Any World Buffs?
The elimination of global buffs in raid instances is one of the most important changes mentioned. Whether or not world buffs should be eliminated or how the community wanted them altered was a hot issue during Classic’s first release. With the introduction of a completely new item, the Chronoboon Displacer, Blizzard provided an elegant and well-received solution. Many elite players from private servers and Classic will be upset if global bonuses are removed from raids in Season of Mastery.

The Chronoboon Displacer certainly adds to the confusion around the global buff issue. The Chronoboon was released late in Phase 6 of Burning Crusade Classic, and it is essentially worthless in the game. Why did Blizzard create this item for a three- or four-month gaming period? Is it possible that the Chronoboon will return for Season of Mastery? Regardless of Chronoboon’s existence, the community is divided on how World Buffs should be treated during Season of Mastery…

Could Blizzard find a way to make both kinds of gamers happy in Season of Mastery? Perhaps a new Realm type, such as PvP-WB and PvE-WB, might be created. These might be worlds with World Buffs or Chronoboon Displacer activated, for example. One of the most common community ideas for this modification seems to be this. Or does this tale have a whole other aspect to it? Is it possible that Blizzard is reserving World Buffs until after Season of Mastery? Maybe Season of the Boon will be released in 2023 for the Classic community?
Will Raid Bosses Have More Loot Than Normal Bosses?
This is a big subject of debate in the community, so it’s understandable that people would inquire. Shouldn’t raid bosses drop more loot if the Season of Mastery phase cadence is going to be ramped up for a 12-month release? Would the bulk of raids be equipped enough to enter the Temple of Ahn’Qiraj on the day of release if raid bosses didn’t drop additional loot? If raid boss loot isn’t raised, there will very certainly be very few Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker each world (if any), restoring the item’s Legendary status!
Is the Honor System Going to Change?
The Honor System may not need to be modified at all now that the PvP Honor System has been introduced with Battlegrounds. Because of the earlier release date, most individuals will reach Rank 14 about the time Blackwing Lair is released, which corresponds to how it played out in Classic. However, some players believe that the Honor grind requires too much time and effort, and they are pushing for a reform in the system. Many members of the community have advocated for a decrease in the decay system, which would lower the amount of work and time necessary to achieve Rank 14.
How Will The War Effort Against Ahn’Qiraj Work?
Players must labor hard to unlock the gates of Ahn’Qiraj and acquire the coveted Black Qiraji Resonating Crystal during the War Effort, which is a very difficult phase of Classic. How will the Gates operate with an average of two months between phases? Many realms do not have the chance to open the gates fast, and if it takes two months for a realm to open the gates, Naxxramas may emerge before they even enter the Temple of Ahn’Qiraj.
Blizzard’s Phase 5 advertisement in World of Warcraft Classic
Blizzard did add an auto-complete mechanism to the War Effort during Classic, but it would have to begin nearly immediately on a quicker phase cadence. Is it possible to decrease the quantity of materials required to open the gate? Will the Gates open when a significantly shorter period of time has passed? Opening the Ahn’Qiraj gates is one of the reasons certain Classic players love the game so much. There are players that like farming Peaceblooms and Copper Bars, and how Blizzard changes the War Effort may have an effect on such individuals.
How many servers, layers, and other components are there?
This is a huge question with the potential to have a long-term effect on the Season of Mastery. If you recall what occurred during Classic, many servers soon became highly faction-biased, or essentially a ghost town. One of the most crucial aspects that Blizzard gets right is the number of realms accessible.
Another popular subject in the community is layering. Blizzard had no choice but to utilize layers to keep realms running without an endless wait time, but this had some negative consequences. Because Blizzard has previously said that the amount of herbs and mining nodes would be increased, it seems that we may be moving away from layers?
In terms of servers and realms, the community suggested that World Buff and No World Buff worlds be created, as we stated in the World Buff inquiry. If you didn’t know, the hardcore community is the biggest group of gamers currently active on Classic Era worlds. There’s even a concentrated push among the community to form a Hardcore guild and take down Ragnaros, which is an incredible aim! They’ve essentially taken over the Classic Era server Bloodsail Buccaneers and converted it into a hardcore server where if a player dies, their character is deleted. Could Blizzard demonstrate that they care about this community by creating tough realms?

A huge group of Warsong Gulch gamers still gathers on the Classic Era Public Test Realm (where consumables may be duplicated indefinitely) to play prepared matches against one another. Could Blizzard add a “Tournament Realm” to Classic Era, enabling users to create characters, buy gear and consumables, and play against one another without restriction? This would almost certainly have a good effect on the community and may contribute to the tiny competitive scene’s development, as well as the possibility of additional Classic Tournaments.
When the “Season of Mastery” is through, what happens next?
While this final issue isn’t urgent, it is one that the community is considering. What occurs at the conclusion of the Season of Mastery? What happens to the characters? How soon will there be another “Season” of Classic Fresh? For some players, the prospect of remaining in Vanilla Azeroth indefinitely is attractive, with new “Seasons” arriving once a year, similar to other seasonal games such as Diablo III’s Ladder Seasons, which provide new cosmetics or features with each season. Is it possible that World of Warcraft Classic will get anything similar?
Tomorrow, October 5th, 2021, the World of Warcraft Classic “Season of Mastery” Open Beta will begin. Hopefully, during the Beta, some of these concerns will be addressed, and the Classic community will be able to enjoy the next Season!
